Take in more than 80,000 works of art, including a 12th-century Japanese Buddha statue with meditation benches, at RISD Museum. This museum was founded in 1877 and has since undergone a number of renovations, including the addition of the Chase Center, built in 2008, which connects all of the museum's building via a glass bridge. The museum is linked with the Rhode Island School of Design and often features works from its alumni. While it houses art from around the world, the museum is perhaps most well-known for its French and American collections, featuring artists from Monet to Warhol. Great venue to break up a slow day with some exciting art and architecture. Right next to Brown's campus and lots of stuff to walk and see.

I really liked the museum! It was bigger and better than I expected! Good collections! Loved the signs with artists' names and texts, placed next to paintings - they did a great job! It was interesting to read and learn! I loved the room with European icons and religious sculptures. Many objects were 1000 years old. I loved seeing them! European art of XVIII and XIX centuries was very nice! The collection of American art was great! Interesting room with textiles. Highly recommend to visit! Loved the cafeteria in the museum, too! 👍
Unbelievably large collection of interesting and unique art. I get bored quickly in art museums but this sprawling collection had so many diverse collections; every room was a new medium to explore! Lots of impressive pieces to recognize juxtaposed with unknowns to discover. I loved it!
