Marine Specialties has been a Provincetown landmark for over 50 years. Often known simply as "the army-navy store," Marine Specialties is an eclectic treasure trove of salvage, surplus, slight IRs, closeouts, overruns, misprints, mistakes, spare parts, odd lots, cast-offs, and new and nearly-new items. Over time it's grown to be the kind of jumbled, inclusive, and eccentric "army-navy" store Provincetown deserves. Many people young and old call this their favorite shop. History Started in 1961 by Bob and Elizabeth Patrick as a Retail Mail Order business with a small hand illustrated catalog. Marine Specialties evolved into an eclectic Army Navy store during the 1960's.The Patrick's have traveled the world hunting down the unusual and unique. Since 1970 they have supplied other stores worldwide, although predominantly in the US and Japan. Three generations now work in this long established family business Open Daily in seasonPlan to visit Marine Specialties and other customer-reviewed, writer-recommended Provincetown attractions using our Provincetown trip builder website.

If you are looking are store that is like a scavenger hunt then this is the place. Many years ago when this place opened it was all old antique type nautical items. Well, now the theme is surplus... more »
You never know what you'll find in this store. Dried starfish, plush toys, magnets, buttons, hats, weapons, even armor... there's something for everyone in here!
I am so addicted to this store, it's scary. They have the best selection, cheapest discounted clothes, housewares, costumes, knick-knacks, whimsical gifts, army surplus, flags, ropes and fish nets, camping supplies.... it's pretty chaotic, you have to go hunting through to find your size (if they have it) but you will not be able to walk out of there not buying something.... or a lot of somethings, like I always manage to do!
