  • History buffs will love this. A fully period dressed ranger, explains how the battle of 1812 was fought just off shore, plus a black powder rifle demonstration. The tower was impressive with a observation platform height of 317ft. There is a elevator that is a little cramped for the ten passenger 1 minute ride up and down. It does cost to go up. Once up there though, the view is absolutely beautiful. I have sensitivity to motion and heights and I felt no movement and wasn't affected by the height. The solidness of the structure was very impressive and the thick wall kept you from seeing directly straight down which made me feel more secure. There are some stairs to climb before the elevator.
  • Great place to visit. Lot of different things to do entertainment live music. Caverns wineries. Parks to have picnics right by the waterfront. Several different ways to get to the island Jet Express. Miller's ferry can take your bikes or cars motorcycles over. All boats in restaurants are handicap accessible. Handicap parking available on the island. Lots of gifts stores. Helicopter rides touring the island and surrounding islands Terry camping available state parks.
