  • For a break from the slot machines in Reno, this is a very fun, interesting, and informative trip. Visit in the morning before 10:30, to see the bears being fed. Then, on to the jaguar, lynx, and vari...  more »

  • My four year old daughter loved Animal Ark! It was a bit cold, so not all of the animals were out, yet some thrived in the chilly afternoon. Even though it was a holiday weekend, it was not overly cro...  more »

  • Wow this place was pretty incredible! A lot bigger than I thought it would be. The staff there was very friendly and the animals were adorable. The price was more than reasonable ! My only suggestion is that there needs to be more shade. Last time I went it was hot and there was zero shade! Either way, I will definitely be returning:)
  • Nice place! Great place for families or just people who enjoy wild animals. Inexpensive entertainment. Be prepared to walk a lot or you could rent a golf cart. It was in the 90's the day we went. Almost too warm. But we're still happy we went. Best part of the place is that each animal was rescued. Some from people who thought they could handle wild animals others who were hit by cars. All animals can not survive in the wild. Bring some extra cash to donate. And at some of the exhibits there was staff there to talk about the animals. You could tell they were knowledgeable and really care about the animals.
  • Beautiful facility. Quite large and spaced out, so give yourself time to enjoy all the animals. Very lovely staff and volunteers. The people I spoke with were knowledgeable about the animals - where they came from and how they made it to the Ark. Beautiful animals. The animals they have are mostly animals you would find in our local wilds. It was really cool to see them up close. We made it just in time to see the bear feeding, which was really enjoyable. Make the trek and go check it out. It's worth your while. I took a stroller with me, pushing around my infant. It was difficult, but fun. The paths are DG and are quite sloped in some areas, so keep your feet underneath you.
  • The staff at this rescue is knowledgeable, kind, accommodating, and they make you feel welcome. They have wonderful habitats for the wildlife and each animal has a story and a history. This isn't a zoo, but an animal rescue. The rescue is about fifteen miles from the highway and about the last two miles are on a washboard gravel road. Perfectly easy to travel in the summer months, but your car will get dusty. If this bothers you rent or hitch a ride with someone it won't bother. It was not a concern for me, but I heard another visitor mention this. They have an amazing gift shop where my mother-in-law purchased the hardest jigsaw puzzle ever of the most beautiful leopard. Gift shop also has cold drinks and ice cream. Be prepared to walk. Paths are well kept and smooth, but terrain is moderately hilly. They do have golf carts for rent for handicapped or elderly visitors, but be sure to call ahead to reserve one of you need one. Also remember that this is the desert. If you can't carry your own shade, I recommend a hat and sunscreen. Trees along the walking paths are small and sparce. We truly enjoyed our visit and would recommend to all animal lovers, families with children, schools looking for an educational field trip, or anyone looking for a good way to spend the afternoon.
  • Absolutely amazing. Beautiful animals, lots of species. Staff is friendly and informative and they clearly do a great job with the animals, they all look happy and healthy. Such a great place doing great things for the animals!
