Greenwood Memorial Park Funeral Home, Renton

#6 of 8 in Things to do in Renton
At Greenwood Memorial Park and Greenwood Funeral Home in Renton, Washington, we are honored to serve the Renton, South King County and greater Seattle community. The 40-acre memorial park was established in 1910 and is noted for its mature trees, serene setting and magnificent memorial to Jimi Hendrix, who grew up in Seattle and was laid to rest at the cemetery grounds.

The funeral home opened in 1984. Remodeled in 2017, the funeral home is fresh, modern and state of the art.

Greenwood Memorial Park allows families to take care of all of their burial and cemetery arrangements. Located on the cemetery property, Greenwood Funeral Home adds simplicity and convenience for those making funeral or cremation arrangements. Our caring, experienced teams are here for you throughout this difficult stage of life.

We are the one of the few cemeteries in the Renton area to offer exclusive private family mausoleums, a patio mausoleum, indoor glass-front niches, lawn crypts and a wide variety of cremation memorialization options such as estates, memorial benches, niches and columbaria. At Greenwood Memorial Park, we strive to meet every Seattle family’s burial needs and understand that choosing a final spot is an important and often emotional decision.

The 2 most impressive gardens at Greenwood Memorial Park are Garden of Eternal Peace and Lotus Garden. To honor the rich and vibrant Asian population in the Seattle area, these gardens have Asian-inspired features. Garden of Eternal Peace was built in 2006 and has a magnificent pagoda surrounded by upright monuments with curved Asian-inspired roofs, private estates made of brick and a relaxing water fountain. Our newer development, Lotus Garden, has a dragon water feature and offers private estates made of slate. You do not need to be of Asian descent to be interred in these gardens. Anyone is welcome to choose Lotus Garden or Garden of Eternal Peace as their final resting spot.

Seattle is a rich, vibrant and diverse community—and we are lucky to be a part of it. Greenwood Memorial Park and Greenwood Funeral Home hold several events throughout the year. Each April, we host Ching Ming, an annual Chinese festival for Chinese families to remember their ancestors and loved ones. Approximately 600 guests attend the event. We serve lunch, set off firecrackers and invite traditional dragon dancers. We also host an event on Memorial Day weekend to honor veterans and military families. During that event, we serve hot dogs and help guests find their loved ones’ final resting spots. Volunteers place American flags on markers and there is usually a flyover with a B-52 bomber.

  • We went to see the tribute to Jimi Hendrix. The cemetery is easy to find, and is located next to a McDonald's. It appeared to be very well cared for. A lot of nationalities were buried there, so...  more »

  • My beloved hubby of 29 yrs had his beautiful service June 2019 at Greenwood. I did thorough research 1 month prior (even sending in scouts) making sure I was armed with knowledge and information because in this industry you don't want to be taken advantage of during your time of need or sold what you don't want or need. Once you get past the front man Lou (thankfully Carrie the GM intervened with fair&swift resolution), my amazing and heartwarming journey during the most painful and agonizing time in my lifetime began. *Jessica and *Joseph (Joe) were phenomenal because not only were they respectful, professional, skillfully experienced but displayed heartfelt compassion, genuine and sincere care and concern; they both listened with an open mind and embraced my vision for the ceremony. When appropriate, they would offer input and insight which was so helpful. They always made themselves available for follow up and made you feel included, like family ... top priority. They were honest and their forthrightness was refreshing. Not just some "package deal", they both personalized, customized and tailored the beautiful service to incorporate our desires, needs and wishes ... who my husband embodied. They went above and beyond adding a personal touch; even staying late all while giving us all the time needed without feeling rushed or pressured. Jessica made sure to incorporate his 30 year USCG service with honor and dignity as a Veteran along with his PhD accomplishments. All 185+ mourners said it was the absolute "BEST celebration of life they ever attended"! Forever grateful and eternally etched in my heart's memories and thoughts for our family, loved ones, friends and colleagues. Greenwood delivers and then some ♡
  • Joe Loran, our funeral director had a calming and peaceful manner that was palpable. He added just enough humor, grace and sympathy to temper our grief and direct focus on our end-if-life care needs. Joe was professional at every juncture and was extremely patient and kind when there were errors on vital statistics. Thank you Joe for your outstanding guidance and for providing us with dignified courtesy and respect. Gratefully, The Gordon Hayes Family
