  • What a Treasure: This is in the boonies but well worth the trip off the highway. Once at the site, it's easy to see why the Pawnee picked this site for their village. You can wander around outside...

  • If you use Garmin, you might just end up having to stop and get directions from a local after driving around town. I did. It was down to the end of a road, turn, go over the bridge, down another...

  • This museum was a fantastic stop for my family and my 4 boys all were very interested in what the museum had to teach them. Our tour guide was very kind, educated, and was able to answer all of our questions. We learned a lot!
  • This museum might win the award for Most in the Middle of Nowhere! But that is part of the charm. Not only is there a museum built over the architectural dig of an earth lodge (left as it was when the archaeologists finished), outside you can walk through the site of the whole village with informative, interpretive signs. And this is where the remoteness of the museum becomes its advantage. You can really feel what it would have been like to be in this village when the Pawnee still lived there. Not much has changed, windswept prairie and huge, blue skies. It is an immersive experience and one you should not miss.
