Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is known for its diverse permanent collection, which encompasses 5,000 years of creative work, and its large sculpture garden. This museum opened in 1936 and is one of the first museums in the southern United States to be run using state funds. It contains 33,000 works from various cultures, though it is noted for its Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and modern and contemporary American artwork, as well as it's prominent South Asian, Himalayan, and African collections. The museum offers talks, educational opportunities, and creative classes for children and adults. After spending the day exploring its exhibitions and gardens, you can relax in one of the museum's two restaurants. An absolutely amazing experience. It was raining so we couldn't enjoy the outdoors. It was so much to see. I would have to come back. Artwork and collections are beautiful. Definitely coming back!! A nice place for a date. Food served for a price the reflect the cost for buying from a museum.
