This was my third time here. I usually day hike up to Grassy Ridge Bald. This time however, I backpacker up and spent the night. It's 5 miles out and back, with a 1,000 ft elevation gain. It is a beautiful hike the whole way up. The veiws are amazing!

Carvers Gap the best place to hike Appalachian mountains spanning north to south allowing beautiful rolling mountains to your east and west. 3/4 of a mile once you start the hike , you reach the balds and from there the views gets better and one can keep hiking over the mountains to their heart content and camp.
