Travel back in time to the 13th-century style Anderson Japanese Gardens, complete winding paths that link pagodas to waterfalls and bridges. You will see numerous flowers and trees including Japanese maples, cloud pines, azaleas, magnolias, and rhododendrons, and various species of colorful fish, minks, and ducks. You can take a guided tour if you have eight or more guests, or do a self-guided walk of the gardens. While strolling through the gardens, look for statues of angels created by a Swedish sculptor Carl Milles who worked during the 19th and 20th centuries. Beautiful in any season of the year, whether full of fellow garden admirers or nearly empty of guest. Also has a very nice restaurant, gift and helpful staff.

Beautiful time to go see this garden. Worth the drive! The vibrant colors of the leaves starts from the parking lot. Gorgeous place to just take your time and breathe in nature. Restaurant was ok. Regular restaurant. I wish they would up the Japanese experience with getting more authentic food. But still good I definitely recommend making a reservation. And they accommodate gluten free allergies.

We visited on the last weekend of October and had a wonderful time. The grounds were well-maintained and there was lots to see and experience. The map was helpful since it was our first visit. There are frequent benches and seating areas which makes the route as peaceful and restful as you want it to be. We spent about an hour and half strolling the gardens. I will say, drinks at the coffee bar near the restaurant were super overpriced and serves in an unprofessional way, but everything else was top notch!
