Rockford City Market, Rockford

#12 of 20 in Things to do in Rockford
Flea Market · Hidden Gem · Farmers Market
Rockford City Market was launched in 2010 as a seasonal outdoor market and a collaborative effort to help bring new life to downtown Rockford. The market is located on Water Street between State and Jefferson Streets.

It includes local growers and vendors who sell natural products, like vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, cheeses, flowers, herbs, baked goods, wine and healthy snacks, as well as artisans and vendors with unique offerings. Most vendors and performers come from a 150-mile radius, ensuring locally grown produce and unique retail items.

In 2019 an indoor year round market opened adjacent to the outdoor location. The market will host fall and winter markets and other events to bring entrepreneurs and the community together. Private rentals are also available.

  • Fun Friday evening festival with live music and many vendors. Wife really enjoyed all the local organic food kiosks. She got some unique cheese and vegetables. A little pricey but expected. Glad to see downtown Rockford has become trendy. $3 to park but free parking two blocks away.
  • Really nice atmosphere! Took some out of town family there and we tried the food from 15th & Chris, and another place that made crepes. Both were so good! My family was impressed, and could not believe that goes on every Friday night! Fun time, a little pricey, but worth it!
