Dream Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park

Dream Lake is a high alpine lake located in Rocky Mountain National Park in northern Colorado, located east of the continental divide.
The lake is accessed via the popular Bear Lake trail head and is at the base of Hallett's Peak, and is well known for its stunning views caused by surrounding steep cliffs, and a popular destination for casual hiking.

  • On the 30th September 2018 we reached the Bear Lake in the morning at about 10 am. Yes, we got parking there. After visiting Bear Lake, we started for Dream Lake. At first we reached Nymph Lake, and a...  more »
  • A one mile hike each way. You can stop at the head of the lake, but I suggest that you walk along the lake and find a more secluded spot.  more »

  • Breathtaking scenery all year round. I went in April and there was still lots of snow. Be careful where you step in the lake, especially around the shore during spring, I fell in. There are also some cool wildlife if you take the time to look around. The hike to the lake is short and definitely worth it.
  • My favorite hike— best to go at 5 am in the summer, otherwise it’s VERY crowded
