Wawatam Lighthouse is an automated, modern lighthouse that guards the harbor of St. Ignace, Michigan in the Straits of Mackinac. It was originally erected near Monroe, Michigan as an iconic roadside attraction in 1998, and was first lit as an aid to navigation in St. Ignace in August 2006.

  • Such a beautiful little lighthouse. There is no actual home attached like a lot of lighthouses you think of. But it's still neat to see. It's a little walk along the boardwalk passing...  more »
  • My husband and I were on the boardwalk which was a short but nice walk to the lighthouse. It was so freezing cold though so I would wait until it gets warmer. Very nice area and pretty  more »
  • We enjoyed a nice walk down the boardwalk, read the history of the boardwalk and the Chief Dock, learned a little history, enjoyed a beautiful view of the lake, rang the old train bell and then the kids enjoyed the splash pad. It is a really beautiful little park. You could totally drive right past it if you didn't know what you were looking for.
  • It was so beautiful and the placards with historical information along the way were quite informative. The garden nooks were very pretty as well.
