  • Lone Elk Park seems to be one of those places that WAY too few people know about, but maybe that's a good thing in a selfish way. It's a relaxing drive, animals are everywhere, and the staff was nice.

  • This was our first visit with our St. Louis family. We enjoyed the drive around in the hilly park seeing the elk, deer and geese. We saw a group hiking. We didn't visit the information center...

  • Lone elk is very cool. Our family has been only 3 times now but it's been a few great experiences. You can walk trails get to see the bison, elk, deer and they even have a bird sanctuary. Although I haven't been to see the birds. There is a pretty cool lookout at the beginning of the drive. We went on a trail our last time there and got to see some bison up close. Not too close... just a great place to go and see nature and have a nice picnic. Oh we also found a dog statue I believe was a good cache. We wasn't doing the geo caches but we spotted the dog.. apologies for the camera focus.
  • Lone Elk Park is such a magical place. From the sun beaming down on the lake with the hills surrounding it as you are driving. The grasslands, the wooded areas and the beautiful animals roaming around. The bison, the elk, deer, birds and other local wild life just living their little lives. This is a perfect park to just have your windows down, no music and to just enjoy nature. I often like to sit down and watch what the animals are doing for hours on end watching them graze and live life just as we do. This is a perfect place to take your family and boy do the animals get close so be careful!
