  • Today was my first time visiting and I can honestly say it’s a great experience! It’s called the Missouri History Museum but there is a big emphasis on St. Louis’ part in history. They have a new exhibit called St. Louis sound which narrates and show cases clothing, iconic figures, victories, and struggles of African Americans during the early 1900’s. What I love about each exhibit is that they are not only interactive but they are accessible to those who are hearing and visually impaired. You can have the exhibits described to you but scanning a QR code on your phone. The new St. Louis sound also has a really neat feature that allows you to listen to music throughout the ages as you walk through the exhibit to give it a more interactive feel. Some of the interactive stations were temporarily unavailable due to COVID and masks are required regardless of vaccination status. The museum was very clean and it was obvious the staff were taking measures to keep visitors safe. The other guests were courteous and mindful and it was quiet enough to enjoy and feel like you were the only one walking through. This is such a fun and educational experience and I recommend it to everyone!
  • A good museum to spend day to explore history that provided a lot of solid information. I thought it was well laid out and the paths were easy to follow. It really gave a strong flavor of what life was like in MO over the many years of development. I especially liked the exhibit on the 1904 Worlds Fair that explained the development of the area (which from the Art Museum, you can get a great view and imagine what it looked like in 1904. I did feel like I was getting a lot more "St. Louis" history than general MO history and would have liked to see an exhibit or some explanation of the Missouri Compromise as I didn't find one mention of that legislation which was pivotal in the years following the compromise and ultimately leading to where our country is today.
