A classic white color, relatively small size, and setting among shady oak trees belie the historical and cultural significance of Christ Church. The house of worship has stood here since 1820, lasting through a conversion into a horse stable by Union troops during the Civil War, followed by restoration in 1884. Inside, see the plaques on the pews commemorating visits by U.S. presidents, and view the various stained-glass windows--including the 18th-century one in the back imported from Germany. Outside, visit the cemetery where native St. Simons islanders, including author Eugenia Price, were laid to rest. The church's services are open to visitors, so you can worship here if you'd like. • The grounds are just beautiful! Our tour guide was so gracious and we loved learning about the history of this church! Ride a bike there and then continue onto Fort Frederica.

  • We enjoyed walking the grounds and looking at the various grave markers, some very old. While we could not go inside the church, the grounds and exterior were beautiful.

  • Beautiful little church to visit!! It’s open Tuesday-Sunday from 2-5 for visitors. The historic beauty inside is wonderful to see. The volunteers are so incredibly friendly as they tell all about it’s history. The grounds around the church are also gorgeous for an afternoon stroll.
  • Beautiful location. Did not go inside but just walked around. Very old headstones. Parking area is across the street. Trees were stunning. Nice place to see
