In 1933, Honeywood Winery was founded by Ron Honeyman and John Wood. It was originally called Columbia Distilleries, and produced fruit brandies, cordials and liqueurs. Eventually, they settled on making premium wines and decided a name change was in order for the winery. Contrary to the obvious Messrs. Honeyman and Wood did not use a contraction of their names to make Honeywood, and in fact, objected to the name those grounds. An advertising consultant, who knew a good thing when he saw it, provided the rationale with a line from Oliver Goldsmith's play, "The Good Natured Man," wherein the products of fermentation were referred to as, "smooth as Honey...aged in Wood...the drink of the good natured man." By coincidence or design, Honeywood became synonymous with the elite in wines.Use our Salem trip planner to visit Honeywood Winery on your trip to Salem, and learn what else travelers and our writers recommend seeing nearby.

Ordered some wine online as a gift to my friend who lives in Georgia. Her favorite wine is the raspberry, and it was a birthday present. I though maybe they would put a card that just said happen birthday, but instead the wrapped it in a bow and even filled the box with confetti! Definitely went above and beyond my expectations!! Will be ordering again!!

Great winery! We have gone for wine tasting and went home with a few bottles. Loved everything we’ve tried. I went this evening to pick up some more wine and received excellent customer service yet again. Thanks
