The Maverick Potter LLC., Salida

We have a Colorado vacation home not far from Salida, and have shopped routinely in the area for years now. I'd only bought a few small items from Mark, and when our 20th anniversary came up, I was convinced I wanted to buy my bride fine China. I grappled with this for weeks as I couldn't find the set I liked. It donned on me, that I could bend the idea of dishware around us rather than a social convention. I stopped through and commissioned Mark to make us a very personal set up plates, bowls, and goblets - a small set of 4. I wanted something pretty and colorful, but I wanted it rugged enough for daily use. We have no small number of "pretties" we never use and I wanted Mark's work to withstand heavy use. Suffice it to say, he met my deadline, shipped it direct to our Iowa home, and my wife and children love them. I do to. They absolutely exceeded my expectations. I was comfortable with the price point. The set can be used in the oven, microwave, and dishwasher, with some limitations of course, and they have elevated our meals. Whether you're looking for decorations or items for daily use, you're wise to seriously consider Mark at the Maverick Potter. I'm glad I did.

Beyond the store items for purchase which are always changing in style keeping things fresh - they have a great paint your own clay studio in the back (not sure why its not more advertised!). They supply various types of completed pottery - really fun for kids - and they fire and will mail pieces back to you. We've done this many times now and my daughter loves it!!
