  • You would think that Phil's Man cave is losing a star because it's right in the middle of State Street, but that's actually the most charming part about it. I feel safe when I'm there. No, really I wish I could give this nifty little nugget five stars but I was just too turned off by the fact that the owner is never present to interact with loyal patrons. Why else would a regular like me not have met him (or her) yet?
  • Phil’s Man Cave is a promising new after work haunt in the Salt Lake City beer scene. The concept is strong but the execution is so far lacking. With a bit of work this place could be my favorite place to hang out for beers. Pros: the spirit of international brotherhood, beer taste, location, cover charge, conversation, price. Cons: chair comfort, temperature, number of available power outlets, lack of trains. The lawnmower brand struck me as slightly pretentious for the scene. A really cool reclaimed space. Update 3/21/17 I've been informed that the publican has added some accessory power outlets. Now I can finally charge my electric all-weather unicycle, portable ear hair trimmer, palm pilot, personal neck cooler, and collection of pocket wind-up toy soldiers all while enjoying a cold brew at P'sMC.
