Bustling Temple Square is home to a number of tourist attractions, including a large complex owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Family History Library, the largest genealogical library in the world, is a favorite stop. Here, you can delve into your ancestors' past. If you are not a Mormon, you cannot enter the Salt Lake Temple that dominates the square, but you still can explore the grounds and admire the exterior of this striking, 19th-century structure. Pop into the visitor center to see a diorama of the inside of the temple. Learn more about Mormonism at the Church History Museum, home to a large collection of Latter-day Saint artifacts and artwork. Approach a missionary or volunteer docent for a free tour of the square. We had a nice tour of the campus including the Assembly Hall, Tabernacle and the Conference Center. Beautiful grounds and very interesting information about the Mormons. Met many missionaries...

Although the main temple is covered in scaffolding, as the foundations are being shored up and made earthquake proof, and above ground it is being renovated, the rest of the area was spectacular...

The Salt Lake Temple is being renovated. The renovation project is in the third year. Over the past two years, two tower cranes were erected on the north and south sides of the temple. These cranes have been used for various purposes, such as removing stones from the walls and towers. Temple Square is well worth a visit, and visitors can go inside the Tabernacle. There are church volunteers available for any questions.
