Experience Egyptian, Greek, and Roman antiquities, along with other art from the Americas and Asia, at San Antonio Museum of Art. This museum opened to the public in 1981 in an old Lone Star Brewery complex, which was purchased and renovated in the 1970s. Enjoy a stroll along the banks of the San Antonio Riverwalk before entering the adjacent museum. The museum hosts a number of educational programs and visiting exhibits in addition to its permanent collections. While the museum was originally known for its Latin American works, it now also boasts a impressive collection of art from other parts of the world. The museum cafe offers a view of the river. This museum has a great collection of artifacts, sculptures and art from Greece, Rome and Egypt. There are ton of other pieces from other regions as well, but these were the standouts for me.

The museum was delightful. Well worth the trip. This collection of art and history felt well rounded, being from all cultures, well priced, and the presentation and lighting were expertly done. A bit of walking to be had, but plenty of space to sit down and rest while you enjoy. The contemporary art was fantastic and well worth seeing In person. The sand mandala was my favorite.

Beautiful architecture and design. Quite a large museum with 4 floors, so pick up a map at the entrance. SO many lovely pieces and a great layout. Because there wasn't a large crowd I was able to take many pictures. But I did not get to see the entire museum as I ran out of time! I will definitely visit again. The gift shop has great stuff too!
