This museum opened to the public in 1981 in an old Lone Star Brewery complex, which was purchased and renovated in the 1970s. Enjoy a stroll along the banks of the San Antonio Riverwalk before entering the adjacent museum. • The Roman, Greek, and Asian art were in great quantity and quality pieces. An easy-to-follow route allows one to see everything they offer.

  • Unassuming museum from the outside and beautiful on the inside. Definitely a surprise to be greeted by such a modern, "white cube" entrance design. I found the museum to be well laid out with easy access to the lift and stairs and multiple, clean restrooms. The art itself is lovely and there is a wide array of cultures represented--not just a museum full of European art with a small hallway of other cultures. The Asian wing, specifically, was beautiful and great to see. Definitely recommend going to see this museum if you haven't and you can see all of it in less than two hours so you don't have to walk all day.
  • We had a great time. We went for the prong break day. Will definitely be back. Very easy to get around. Lots of art to see. Not too crowded. We hear it's also free on Tuesday's after 4.
