Observe sea life in its natural habitat at Cabrillo Tide Pools, accessible by a 1.6 km (1 mi) hike on the western side of Point Loma. Take in views of rugged sea cliffs, see delicate ocean ecosystems at work, and search for local plants and animals. During low tide, pools of water collect in pockets near the shore, and in them you can view octopi, barnacles, and more hidden creatures. Strolling along the shore beside these tide pools is a wonderful way to discover the coast, but be careful not to slip on mossy rocks.
