This is a great location to explore early Republic of Texas history along the Brazos River. It is central for a long weekend camping trip or day adventure from Houston, San Antonio or Central Texas. more »
Took a trailer out there and had a great time only 90 dollars for 2 nights 2 people and 3 dogs. Didn't see any of the sights but some of the places look interesting but it was to hot. Without the burn ban trip would have been more fun. But dogs had a great time, camp sites were far enough apart and well maintained. Will definitely go again.
Lots of good hiking trails and very few people during the times we were there. Maybe because it's location but we only saw one other person the entire time outside of the camp grounds. The store is also very reasonably priced for souvenirs.
