Big Bus Tours reviews

If you take the hop on/off tour it's the best. You can ride around and pick which spots you want to hang out. There are a ton of buses always running so it doesn't take long to wait. Go early though..... more »
We bought the deluxe 2 day ticket which includes Sausalito and night tour. Good things: we got on the bus easily from outside our hotel, the app shows exactly when the bus is coming. The bus routes are clear, and this makes journey planning easy. We did the whole tour first, which gives a good overview of the city before deciding where to visit. Down sides: we found it difficult to “hop on and hop off” as intended, because the queues to “hop on” at major sites were huge ! Maybe because we were visiting in September, a weekend and hot weather. To do the whole tour took over 3 hours, very uncomfortable. We found that to get to the Sausalito departure point meant doing the red route again from our hotel to the bridge view point. This took almost 3 hours to get there, in order to ride a few minutes to Sausalito. It would have been better to get the ferry, which we did to get back, or face hours on the bus again ! We gave the night tour a miss as we couldn’t face sitting on the bus once more. I suggest the 1 day ticket is better, the extras can be experienced in another way. Use the city buses, ferries and taxis instead.
We went on the night blue route across the bay bridge to treasure Island and our guide was Susanne. It was excellent and definitely recommendable. Our guide was fun and full of information. The views of San Fransisco from treasure Island were spectacular. The bay bridge was very pretty once it lit up, we even got a view of golden gate bridge when the fog lifted. Excellent, although it did get a bit chilly, we went last week.
