Trip Planner: USA / California / San Francisco / Chinatown
Home to the largest Chinese community outside of Asia, Chinatown was established here in 1848, making it the oldest of its kind in North America. Immerse yourself in the bustle of this densely packed neighborhood with its numerous shops and restaurants. To learn more about the customs, languages, and identity of this famous enclave, embark on one of the many guided tours. Discover the neighborhood's parks, herbal shops, temples, and numerous pagoda-roofed buildings. No visit is complete without sampling some Chinese cuisine. The dim sum teahouses are especially good. Put Chinatown and other San Francisco attractions into our San Francisco trip itinerary website, and watch your holiday take shape.
I've been here in the summertime of last year. I really liked the rice that I had. Nothing to dislike about this place. I also liked to how cool it looked with all of the cool lanterns.

Walking into Chinatown transports you into another country. Sidewalk signs and storefront names written in Chinese, along with Asian murals and Chinese lanterns strewn above. There's tons of shopping, items tightly packed into stores much cheaper than the tourist traps at the wharf. A wonderful time to window shop and find unique items. Everyone i encountered was so pleasant. As with most of San Fran, bring your walking shoes as parts are definitely on inclines.
Very interesting place to visit :) you can find a lot of places to buy a souvenir, eat Chinese food or markets where you can find groceries in an affordable price. It was amazing, it felt like I was in china. However, the atmosphere was a little dull, they told me that before the pandemic there were more people and a much more lively atmosphere where they played music and you could find street food. i loved this place :)! (I visited in January)
