If that seems like a bit too much, explore the beach or take a relaxing walk, watching the adrenaline junkies glide above you. This is a dog-friendly beach, so feel free to bring your pet(s). The sea can be pretty rough here, se be mindful of riptides if you decide to swim. • We hiked the top trail during covid and the view was lovely. There's also a trail down to the beach that is popular with dog walkers.  more »

  • This is the best dog park in the Bay Area. Hike for an hour or more in the off leash area. Throw sticks into the surf and watch your dog gleefully crash into the waves. Watch your dog run around with other dogs in a large enough area that they can easily sustain a full sprint. I've never seen a dog fight here, nor abandoned poop. There is no easy access to fresh water at the parking lot, so it's good to bring a five gallon jug and extra towels to rinse off the dog before you leave.
  • So many intersecting trails allow for a choose your own adventure style of hiking. Beautiful scenery and fun plants to enjoy. It makes a good morning hike, as it often starts cool and foggy in the morning and then the fog burns off. Also there are remnants of the old fort to explore. My corgi loved it, but there are lots of dogs off leash, so skittish pups may get nervous. And it may be relevant to some that I didn't see any restroom facilities, only satellite toilets.
