Painted Ladies, San Francisco

Painted Ladies are Victorian and Edwardian houses that have become icons of San Francisco. These architectural styles reigned supreme here between 1849 and 1915. While some of the houses didn't survive the tides of time, many of them have been lovingly restored. They are distinctive for their bold colors and ornate, wooden detailing. Visit the neighborhoods of Haight-Ashbury and Pacific Heights to see a generous collection of the houses. Alamo Square is lined with a row, and its hilltop park offers views of many colorful facades. • Des de Alamo Square, which is slightly higher, you can contemplate the last Victorian-style houses of the 50,000 that were built between 1850 and 1915 approx. They are also known as "seven sisters".

  • Another famous photo spot that symbolizes San Francisco. This is where you can take pictures of victorian houses. There are many pretty houses nearby, with a view of San Francisco as well as the painted lady's.

  • I loved looking at houses. Especially ones with character. Luckily the city of San Francisco is filled with them and these Victorian's are among the most popular. Of course they great in popularity because of Full House the ones that most go to see that are commonly called the 7 sisters. However a painted lady is really any house with 3 or more paint colors on the exterior. There are several nearby the famous ones everyone sees. In fact I found the 4 the next block over from the 7 sisters more interesting than the ones everyone goes to see. Still I enjoyed seeing the houses for what they are and not because of a show.
  • Beautiful row of iconic San Francisco Victorian Row Houses. Made famous from the 90’s show Full House. Since I was a childhood Full House fanatic, I had to stop and get a few pics. Alamo Square offers beautiful spots with the San Francisco skyline as a backdrop. Fun place for a quick photo op.
