Connecting San Francisco and Oakland, is one of the area's landmarks and one of the most recognizable bridges in the world. With its two double-deck spans, the total length of the bridge is 7.18 km (4.46 mi). The west span connects San Francisco and Yerba Buena Island, while the east span connects the island with Oakland. The west span went through a substantial seismic retrofit project, and the whole east span had to be replaced. The current east span is among the widest bridges on earth. The bridge provides excellent views of the city skyline. This is a toll bridge, and the fee depends on the day of the week and time of day. San Francisco Bay Bridge reviews
I've been driving across this bridge for almost 50 years. It's a workhorse that supports millions of drivers. A part of it collapsed in the 1989 earthquake, a tragedy. Now part has been re-built... more »
We drove into San Francisco using the Bay Bridge. To pay the bridge fee now, they send you a bill in the mail if you do not have fast pass. The views of the San Francisco Bay Bridge are quite nice. more »
Although it's not as pretty as the Golden Gate bridge (arguably), it is MUCH longer. And it's actually 2 bridges with a tunnel connecting it in the middle. I was lucky enough to be able to drive under, over, and sail underneath it (Part of it is a double-decker bridge which I drove on the underside). It's still one of the oldest suspension bridges in the country and is well-maintained. It's also the gateway to Oakland and the east Bay.
Amazing bridge. Its unbelievable that it has 2 story’s and its stunning how long it goes. You can also exit off the bridge to see Treasure Island. As a Canadian I do not know much about the bridge.
