  • We LOVED Smuggler's Cove! What a delightful treat. I read Martin Cate's (owner) book before we visited, and the bar truly lives up to the hype. My husband is a rum aficionado, and he was in...  more »
  • Smuggler's Cove is a tiki icon. Their rum cocktails are simply amazing and the space is very cool. The dual bars and three levels of seating make great use of a small footprint. If you love tiki...  more »

  • A real, live, pirate ship within San Francisco. No joke. The outside of this space seems as if it's the backside of some Hayes Valley condo with a Red light and no signage reminding you of a garbage man's stop on route to Market street. BUT, once you've stepped inside you quickly forget about the world outside of this new magical land of Jack Sparrow's imagination. The bartenders were amazing. Simply amazing. I asked for the "Zombie" since it was the one Barrel marked drink that a few of my friends found common ground on in recommending. The bartender must have poured about 15 ingredients in his mixer and went to town. It was pretty neat to see how fast he worked and even though it took a few minutes to concoct I was thoroughly entertained by the scenery. Not to mention the guest who came in dressed as Jack Sparrow himself. I've also heard that you can start a card and if you fill out the entire card by buying/trying one of every drink on the menu you'll get your own gold plaque on the wall. I only saw about 10 so far and I've only had one drink out of the hundred or so available. It will be a goal. Such a fun place to visit I will definitely be back.
  • Great service and the best selection of rum with knowledgeable bartenders. Nice drink menu too. Note that they do not serve food but do allow small dry snacks. No hot food or large plate but small bag of chips is fine. Really great looking bar as well.
