Starlight Room, San Francisco

#51 of 104 in Nightlife in San Francisco
Bar / Club · Nightlife
Starlight Room may be the best view bar in the city, except on Sundays, when the windows are blacked out and the curtains drawn because the real spectacle takes place inside. Feathers, sequins, bouffant hairdos ... it's all part of our legendary Sunday's A Drag brunch. A San Francisco institution for nearly a decade, Sunday's A Drag – Starring Donna Sachet, features song-and-dance routines by elaborately costumed drag queens and transgender performers during two Sunday shows (11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.).

11:30am doors open at 10:30 and buffet opens at 11am, 2pm doors open at 1pm & buffet opens 30 min before show @ 1:30pm.

Tickets are $60/person not including tax and gratuity. Brunch begins an hour before the start of each show (10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.) and rolls into the show. Get tickets at:

  • Such a great view of Union Square at night, especially at Christmas time. The servers definitely tried their best to be prompt and to not missing orders, but it's a pretty busy weekend before Christmas. We were happy and adequately lubricated by alcohol so we didn't care that much when they forgot our order. The only annoying part is when a group blocked the most prime spot viewing area and just hung out there for a very long time.
  • We found out about this bar on our Virgin Atlantic city guide on the flight to SF. They recommended the Sunday Brunch Cabaret. It was a great recommendation. A must if you are in town on Sunday. The bar is perfectly decorated for cabaret. The brunch buffet is very good and served an hour before cabaret so you can finish eating before the start, if you want. There is plenty of choice and you won't go hungry. The cocktails are also very good. The drag cabaret funny, interactive and slick. Prepare to be entertained.
