Walt Disney Family Museum presents the life, work, and legacy of Walt Disney, from his early childhood until today. In a 4,000 sq m (43,000 sq ft) space, using old and new technology, the family's collection showcases drawings, animations, movies, and music. In the lobby are 248 awards Disney earned, among which are the Presidential Medal of Freedom--the highest civilian award of the United States--and the Oscar for the movie "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves." See the 3.7 m (12 ft) in diameter model of Disneyland, and watch Disney classics in the "Fantasia"-inspired digital theater. Make sure you have some energy left for the Disneyland exhibit at the end. What a great place. I spent 4 hours there and it was a fantastic time. They reminded me of all the Disney movies I watched when I was a child. Beautiful interior, great exhibits. From the entrance, I felt that I had moved into a different world, a fairy-tale world, a world full of magic. To this day, I have chills. The service and atmosphere were great and you could see everyone around was delighted too. I recommend it very much.
Pleasantly surprised by this museum. Focus is very much on the man, his upbringing and professional development, his business, and the creative process. Along the way, there is plenty exposure to the characters and movies we're all familiar with. Exhibits are well organized and well presented. Not surprisingly, there's little on some of WD's less positive history esp related to labor, race and communism. That aside, highly recommend.
