  • Highest peak around and offers great views even if you don't leave the parking lot. Very short but steep hike to the summit, which offers great views of Monterey bay. Unfortunately the day I hiked...

  • Beautiful campsite with no RVs. Great views of multiple mountain ranges. We camped in April and had great wild flowers. Campsites can be small, but the campground wasn't super busy overall, so we had nice privacy. Bring your own potable water and firewood.
  • Great park for the overnight camping (reservation is required) or for the day trip. Come here before sunset. It's beautiful. You can take a short walk to the tower, or you can also walk about 4 miles in a circle around the park. Restrooms are only at the campsites. $6 day use parking, self-registration.
