The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens
See The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens, an 84 hectare (207 acre) complex, housing 17th to mid-20th century European and American pieces. The library keeps over 7 million items, among which are the first two quartos of "Hamlet" and the "Gutenberg Bible." The library also showcases scientific achievements from Newton to Einstein. See 18th and 19th century British and French paintings, sculptures and decorative arts, and American paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, and photographs from the 1690s to the 1950s. In a 50 hectares (120 acres) area, visit multiple themed gardens, such as Chinese and Japanese, with lakes and tea shops, a tropical jungle, a garden with over 1,400 types of roses, and a children's garden. The Huntington Garden is a gorgeous escape from the city. You could spend an entire day here, and still not see the entire grounds. The Rose Garden is stunning. The succulent section is truly spectacular. But my favorite are the Asian gardens. A perfect way to spend a day. A Los Angeles Treasure. So... worth the visit! Plenty of gardens to walk through including. Tea garden, Japanese and Chinese garden, rose garden (favorite), herb garden, and desert garden etc. Bring really good walking shoes and a hat! I saw many people just reading or doing yoga on the lawn because it’s the most peaceful place ever! Also, not too crowded because they have a max capacity.

The Huntington Gardens & Library is absolutely amazing! The beauty of the trees, plants and flowers is beyond description. The quality of the artwork and manuscripts on display is awe-inspiring. We had the best tour with a docent named Nicholas on Sunday morning. He was incredibly well-informed about the history of the property, the different types of vegetation, and the history of the artwork. We loved it so much, we bought a membership because we plan to go back many times throughout the year!
