Sanibel Causeway, Sanibel Island

4.3
#2 of 9 in Scenic Drive in Florida
Scenic Drive · Tourist Spot
Spanning the San Carlos Bay, Sanibel Causeway connects Sanibel Island to Florida's mainland at Fort Myers. Newly rebuilt in 2007, the bridge is accessible to both cars and bicycles. The 4.5-km (2.8-mi) drive across offers unmatched views of the bay, with opportunities to pull over and snap photos periodically. Two man-made islands connect the three separate bridges making up the causeway. Stop at one of the islands for a quiet place to have a picnic.
