Cold Spring Tavern was established as a stagecoach stop in 1865. Originally known as the "Cold Spring Relay Station", it was a place to change horses and allow travelers to rest and enjoy a meal. The tavern is located 20 minutes north of Santa Barbara, California in Cold Spring Canyon, which is about a mile off Highway 154 along Stagecoach Road (in the San Marcos Pass area). The tavern serves steak, lamb, venison, duck, and rabbit, and kangaroo.RecognitionThe tavern was chosen as the BEST place for a Romantic Getaway and The Santa Barbara Independent called it "pure MAGIC!" They have been noted as one of the few restaurants serving bear.Arrange your visit to Cold Spring Tavern and discover more family-friendly attractions in Santa Barbara using our Santa Barbara day trip tool.

My son took me here while I was visiting. It is the coziest place with the best food. The atmosphere is very laid back. There was a fire in the fireplace to add to the ambiance of the place which..... more »
This was an excellent choice! The drive is beautiful! A great historical place with excellent food. The small side salad was quite large and very fresh. Onion rings were made with a thin breading and were cut thick and were very tasty. Their grilled cheese was flavorful! Staff all worked as a team and were friendly and quick to respond to our food order. There was live music playing outside!
Love. Great biker bar, but accommodates all who are looking for a unique space to relax and have a beverage and great food. Bluegrass music on Sundays. Restaurant on one side. Bar and the best tri tip sandwiches (buy a ticket at the bar) in existence on the other. Very communal bar and food environment, so if you are not nice and open, please don't bother the awesome souls here.
