#2 of 27 in Parks in Santa Barbara
Shoreline Park, a long, narrow ocean-side strip of land on top of a mesa (i.e. coastal bluff), is located in Santa Barbara, California, United States. Facing the Pacific Ocean, Shoreline Park is one of Santa Barbara's most popular parks.Park FacilitiesThe park includes a playground, picnic area, a whale watching area with a telescope situated next to a statue of a large concrete whale tail, as well as a sister city Japanese garden. The park also provides a clear view of the Channel Islands on a good day, and Gray Whale may be observed during their migration months, along with a number of marine mammals including dolphins and seals.A Torii gateway atop the bluff leads to a wooden staircase descending to the tidal beach about 53ft feet below, which is completely submerged during high tide and accessible only during low tide. During the low tide periods, the adjacent Leadbetter Beach and Arroyo Burro Beach (aka Hendry's Beach) are accessible to the east and west, respectively.

  • This park is beautiful with lush, green grass, a view of the ocean and the mountains and even the channel islands on a clear day. There are bathrooms, picnic benches and a playground. Highly recommend...  more »
  • If you come along Route 1 you'll see beautiful beaches, but a nice beach, a place careful, tidy, clean, with several amenities make it a forced stop. I recommend lunch, buy any fast food somewhere and stop here. Where there is parking, bathrooms, tables, games.

  • Shoreline Park is spacious and pretty. Vast views of the ocean, sky and mountains. Lots of green grass, picnic tables, walking areas and a wonderful play area for kids! People walk their dogs and themselves on the clean, well maintained sidewalks. There are public bathrooms and the views are truly spectacular! One thing that is odd though, when I left my house it was sunny and warm, up on the Mesa it was chilly and extremely windy. Very odd. Great place for meeting up with friends and walking or picnicking.
  • It's a great place to get away from the Santa Barbara crowds near the pier and Harper. We enjoyed the relative Solitude sitting on a bench overlooking the ocean. There were plenty of restroom facilities and a drinking fountain. Plenty of parking and a nice bike path as well
