Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Santa Cruz

4.1
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, California’s oldest surviving amusement park, offers classic funfair attractions in a seaside setting. Ride on the Giant Dipper, a world-famous wooden roller coaster that has thrilled visitors since 1924. Make sure to keep your eyes open to catch superb views of the beach. For more vintage fun, take a spin on the Looff Carousel, a hand-carved merry-go-round that dates back to 1911. Try your luck on carnival games, play old favorites in the video arcade, or swing a round of mini-golf. Refuel with boardwalk classics, such as corndogs, pretzels, cotton candy, and saltwater taffy. If you are in the mood for something more upscale, head to Fisherman’s Galley. • Unfortunately, it's super crowded at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and finding a parking space was a big challenge for us. We're not huge funfair fans, but the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is definitely nice to look at and blends in amazingly well with the picture on the beach. On the fairground itself it was super crowded, but it was comparatively empty on the beach. The beach here in Santa Cruz is really nice and a great place for a beach walk or a few relaxing hours. Overall, I can recommend this place to everyone for a short visit.

  • We love visiting the boardwalk. We go every year. We missed last year but went this weekend. It was very packed due to spring break but I’ve seen worse.  more »

  • One of the last true beach boardwalks left on West coast. Complete with roller coaster, arcade and carnival attractions. The ocean wind and saltwater smell in the air add to the family atmosphere. While most rides close during the winter months the boardwalk is a must attraction regardless the time of year. • Pretty typical amusement park. The rides are okay, so long as the lines aren't too long. The food is standard generic junk food. If you are on any kind of specific diet then good luck finding something to eat. You can, however, order a beer and walk around with it. That was nice. The water ride is pretty good. I don't like that they close down the kids rides in the off season. We purchased a season pass for our 4 yr old and haven't been able to use it enough to make the cost worth it. Overall we won't be buying a season pass next year. The mini golf and arcade areas are the best parts.
