Stretching over 14,973 hectares (37,000 acres), this is one of the state’s largest, oldest, and most diverse parks. Myakka River State Park features wetlands, hammocks, pinelands, and prairies--great homes for a variety of wildlife. Take a stroll on the boardwalk over Upper Myakka Lake, and see if you can spy any alligators. Also visit the canopy walkway, a treetop suspension bridge and tower, for superb views of the lush landscape and bird-watching opportunities. Keep an eye out for the roseate spoonbill. With pink plumage and a spoon-shaped bill, it’s one of the most striking birds found in North America. Head to the park’s river or one of two lakes to go canoeing, kayaking, or freshwater fishing. If you’re in the mood for a more relaxed visit, sit back and enjoy a scenic lake tour. Don’t forget to pack sunscreen and bug spray. Myakka River State Park is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.

I highly recommend this tour! It really starts the moment you enter the park ($6 park entrance fee) so arrive early and take a leisurely drive before the boat tour. We saw 5 deer in a field, alligators along the shore from the bridge & a roseate spoonbill among many other birds. On the boat tour- our Captain Mathew was awesome. He is so knowledgeable with all wildlife in the area. And it's clear he loves what he does. Oh & he is hilarious! so you will be entertained along the way! my one suggestions would be- try not to sit in the back row with the motors- it was a bit loud. (it was also very windy which was part of the problem) However- Capt Mathew noticed and turned a speaker to face us without us ever having to say a thing. Such good service! So book now and enjoy the great Myakka outdoors!
This is the most peaceful and unspoiled natural wildlife we have seen anywhere in Florida. Myakka has an abundance of natural woodlands and grasslands and a huge lake all providing a comfortable home to tons of wildlife. Many birds, turtles, deer, small critters and yes, alligator. It's good for walking trails for hours, riding bicycles or can even be enjoyed from a car if necessary. If you like the unspoiled outdoors as it looked before mankind this is the spot. Have no fear if you prefer to drive to a boat or tram tour of parts of the park they have that too. They even have tent & RV camping sites with bathrooms and hot showers included. This place gets 5 stars 🌟
