Saratoga Spa State Park, Saratoga Springs

Listed as a National Historic Landmark, Saratoga Spa State Park is best known for its mineral springs but is also home to a variety of cultural, historical, and recreational activities. The area was deemed a State Reservation in 1909 after businesses were exploiting the springs and depleting them. After World War II, veterans and Holocaust survivors were brought to the springs to benefit from its medicinal effects. Now the park boasts two swimming pools and two golf courses--a championship 18-hole course and a 9-hole course. Visit the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Roosevelt Baths and Spa, or the other museums located in the park. Take a free guided "tasting" tour of the springs to sample the different types of mineral water. If you would like an appointment at the spa, be sure to make reservations ahead of time. • Park is HUUUUGE!. Because of size, doesn't look crowded at all. Saw people filling jugs of mineral water. Plenty of people getting walking exercise, bike riding and walking their dogs. Looks like there...  more »
  • Our son had his graduation from the Navy’s nuclear program at the Hall of Springs. Amazing building. We also saw some of the park and loved it. I wish we had more time to go on a hike.  more »

  • Awesome place to visit. Lots of easy trails. Playground. River. Beautiful nature all around. Walk around and drink mineral water from multiple wells. Drive slowly as there lots of joggers.
  • Saratoga Spa state park is gorgeous for sure. Lots of paths and trails to walk on and even ride your bicycle on. Most of the others walkers are friendly enough and it is an enjoyable place to go if you are looking to explore the outdoors as a family. Kids will love the streams, animals, and woods they can play around in. One of the main drawbacks is parking, especially if there is an event going on and at times parking is not free, however honestly that may only be during concerts at SPAC.
