This is the OFFICIAL page of the Museum Ship Valley Camp!

Inside this great maritime museum, 20th century technology is on display in the S.S. Valley Camp's engine room and pilot house. As you walk through the engine room, be sure to take note of one of the few remaining triple expansion steam engines. Step into the crew's quarter's to get a feel for their living accommodations. Picture yourself at the ship's wheel as you tour the pilot house. Take a moment and imagine life at the helm!

Other exhibits inside this maritime museum, visitors can learn about the Great Lakes, the shipping industry, the Soo Locks, and a memorial and exhibit to the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald and her crew. This memorial includes two (2) lifeboats from the sinking of the Fitzgerald. These lifeboats are the largest pieces of wreckage that were recovered.

  • One of the best and largest maritime museums I've been to. They do a fantastic job of educating us while honoring the legacy of great lakes shipping. Beautiful location. Don't miss their sister attraction, the Tower of History across the street.
  • This big, beautiful old oreboat holds a special place in my heart. I can't stop taking pictures of her!! Take the full tour. You can go "up top" all the way to the pilot house, and all the way down into the holds. (Kinda creepy, but in a good way.) The museum displays are very interesting and the chewed up lifeboats of the Edmund Fitzgerald always bring me to tears. Love this place and all the memories she helps us to hold on to. Please, please, always take care of her. She is an absolute treasure. đź’•
