  • Beautiful park. Well maintained. Gorgeous overlooks. The trails are terrific for hiking. Camping sites are great. No bad ones.

  • If you like hilly hiking trails, this is a good place to go. Just be aware that the trails are narrow, and there is a lot of poison ivy by the trails. It's a good idea to wear long pants for the hikes. There are plenty of nice picnic areas and shelters in the park. The overlooks to the river are amazing. The camp ground is not crowded and pleasant to stay. A busy railway is close by, if you are not a deep sleeper, bring a few good ear plugs.
  • Beautiful place! I brought my kids who were 10 at the time. We camped in the state park it was nice. Make sure you check the length of some hikes! We ended up on a rather long one that was a very steep incline all the way up! We're all season hikers but it was a pretty tough hike considering it was about 95°. There is nice outlooks that you don't have to hike far too you can always drive up to them. One of the only places in Illinois you can rock climb no permit necessary!
