The stately Federal-style home, built by master carpenter Isaiah Davenport for his household, provides a glimpse into 1820s domestic life in the urban port city of Savannah. In 1955 the saving of the Davenport House from demolition was the first effort of Historic Savannah Foundation, which has gone on to national prominence as a preservation leader as well as ushering in the preservation renaissance of the coastal city.To visit Davenport House Museum on your trip to Savannah, use our Savannah online travel route planner.

Good thing to do on a rainy day. The grounds are very pretty and weddings are held at this location. The history of preserving Savannah is told in a video at the old pharmacy building. You get to... more »
Unique take on a historic home tour in Savannah. Our guide, Ava, was great and gave us as much information as she had and was open to questions. She also included a lot about the lives of the 9 slaves in the home, which are often left out of home tours in my opinion. I just wish we knew more about the davenport family in general. Other than that, awesome tour and beautiful home.
Beautiful federal style home. Our tour lasted about 40 minutes and the tour guide was amazing in her patience with a million questions thrown at her, putting her behind schedule with the next group coming through. She was very knowledgeable and thorough. The house is beautiful with a lovely garden to enjoy, even in the smoldering humid Georgia heat. Nice little gift shop, clean bathrooms. Worth the time and money.
