Telfair Museums, the oldest public art museum in the South, has been an integral part of Savannah’s social landscape for over a century.

Since opening its doors to the public in 1880s, the museum has grown from a renovated family mansion into a distinguished cultural institution boasting three architecturally-significant buildings; a permanent collection of approximately 4,000 works of art from America and Europe, dating primarily from the 18th-21st centuries; and a history of dynamic educational programming, community outreach, and exciting exhibitions. Located in Savannah’s vibrant historic district, the museum consists of the Telfair Academy and the Owens-Thomas House—two circa 1820 National Historic Landmark buildings—and the contemporary Jepson Center.

The Jepson Center and the Telfair Academy are both on Telfair Square. The parking garage off Jefferson Street has ample parking if the square is full. The Owens-Thomas house is on Oglethorpe Square and usually has ample parking on the street. Follow us on Twitter at twitter.com/telfairmuseums

  • I have read the other reviews for the Jepson Center. I can only review the installations on the day we visited. So here's how it works. You purchase a ticket for entry to three Telfair locations in Sa...  more »

  • We really liked this for my four year old. The kids section was fun for his investigating personality. While I wish there was an option for only paying for the cost of one museum. $20 isn’t too bad for three museums! You have a week to use the pass, but we won’t be.
  • The exhibits are fun and interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There were lots of interactive areas which was a surprisingly refreshing break from the more information heavy things to see and do. Everyone we met in Savannah was so nice and welcoming except the woman who works the front desk at the Jepson Center- she was rude and obviously did not want to do anything that might be construed as helpful. Otherwise, it's a great place to visit.
