Seaside Aquarium, Seaside

#1 of 8 in Parks in Seaside
Aquarium · Zoo / Aquarium
See a variety of marine species, including small crustaceans, eels, and a giant octopus, at Seaside Aquarium. One of the oldest aquariums in the United States, the space was once a public saltwater bath. The original pipes from the 1920s are still used to feed water to the tanks. For a fee, you can feed the harbor seals, the aquarium’s talented and popular residents. Visit the touch tank to feel the textures of starfish, anemones, and sea urchins, and view the ocean’s tiniest species through microscopes. Note that the facility is on the small side and can get crowded on busy days. Plan my day in Seaside using traveler tips and tourist information provided by Inspirock.

  • This is a one room aquarium filled with various fish tanks and a touch tank, so it doesn’t take long to get through it. The seals though are worth the relatively cheap ($9/adult) price. You can pay...  more »
  • Great way to spend 45 minutes see some cool marine life up close. Our kids absolutely loves feeding the seals. What a fun experience has by everyone. Recommend for younger children for sure!!  more »
  • Very cute, it was small but I had read up on it so I was expecting that. The three large octopuses were amazing. They were cool, the fish they had were also cool. A cute little set up. My favorite part was feeding the sea lions. They were so adorable! Like my cats begging for treats. They were very active. Probably because we came in the morning. I suggest if you want to avoid the crowds go right when it opens as my mom and I were leaving a bunch of family’s were coming in. The gift shop was super cute too. And the beach was right across from it too. Great photo opportunities.
  • It was a great place to take the kids. I did read up on it and yes it is small but kids loved it the same. The kids enjoyed touching the star fish and enemies. My kids really liked different type and sizes octopus. Kids loved feeding the seals and interacting with them. The people that worked there were really nice and informative. I have kids 19 to 4 years old and they all enjoyed the place differently.
