Gas Works Park, Seattle
Jog, picnic, fly a kite, or just take in the views at one of the city's most unusual and popular hangouts,Gas Works Park. Formerly the site of the Seattle gasification plant, the present-day park is the result of highly creative urban renewal projects. Combining a great view of the city, wide green spaces, and the remains of the old plant, the park retains a special character and serves as a great place for a variety of outdoor activities. Parts of the park have been remodeled into a children's play area, and there's also an artificial hill where your kite can catch some lift. The large parking lot and nearby bike lanes provide easy access. Put Gas Works Park on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Seattle day trip site .

This is a really cool park. As the name implies, it still has the remnants of gas works, which makes it really unique. The playground has cushy material for the ground and a good amount of very nice playground structures/toys. The park is pretty large so even with a lot of people it doesn't feel crowded (except in the parking lot) and you can also look out over the water. I believe it borders part of Lake Washington.
One of the most beautiful parks I've been to. The view of the bay is amazing! The gas works are nice to look at too. There's a large hill that overlooks the park with amazing views, and walkways close to the waterfront. Plenty of people relaxing or playing with their dogs. If you're visiting Seattle, you definitely have to visit here, especially if the weather's great!
