Jet City Improv, Seattle

4.6
In response to the growing popularity of unscripted comedy, Andrew McMasters and Mike Christensen founded Jet City Improv in 1992. Their first-ever show took place at Bite of Seattle on May 18th, 1992. Since then, the company has undergone considerable growth. In 1996, the company incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In 2003, Jet City Improv relocated to and purchased the former Historic University Theater.

Today, Jet City Improv strives to enlighten, educate and entertain audiences through the art of improvisation. The company performs free improv comedy shows for children with disabilities and illnesses in Washington and teaches free improv comedy workshops to homeless, incarcerated and in transition youth in Seattle. The company employs eight staff members and upwards of 50 actors and theater professionals at any point during the course of a production season.

  • Have been here probably 20 times over the past 3 years. Whether as a date night, with friends, or with family it has always been fantastically funny. No canned jokes, racism, crude humor, or swearing ...  more »
  • This was something different and quite entertaining. I loved the interactive ascpect and the venue was so intimate. I loved the improvise because they expanded themselves and displayed such quick wit.  more »

  • Just started performing improv and this was my first time ever at Jet City! Just got home and my mouth is off the floor. This cast is unbelievably funny. I can't believe this wasn't scripted. This much energy at a 7:30 show?! I left feeling like it was the first time I heard the Beatles. Excellent job to the cast and crew. It's inspiring!
  • Really solid given that Seattle isn't known as an improv powerhouse. Very community-oriented and family-friendly.
