Smith Tower, Seattle

4.5
Take in the sights and scenery, including the Space Needle, the Great Wheel, Puget Sound, and Mount Rainier, from atop Smith Tower. The 100 year-old building was once the tallest on the West Coast and now offers 360-degree views of the Emerald City from 149 m (489 ft) up. Ride up in the old-fashioned elevator and step out into the China Room, where you can see the antiques and carved ceiling that were gifts from Cixi, the Empress of China. Take a seat in the Wishing Chair, said to bring good luck. You can use both indoor and outdoor observation decks; visit on a clear day for the best views of Mount Rainier and the surrounding mountain ranges. Smith Tower is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , world travel planner Edition.

  • 12 dollars admission and drink specials at the top, if you go at 4pm on Mon-Thurs. The prices at the restaurant are pretty fair for a tourist attraction.  more »
  • Really enjoyed this experience! The historical information is presented in a very interesting way, and the views are incredible! Kudos to Albert, the elevator operator!!  more »

  • This was on our list for two reasons. Number one. This was the first original skyscraper in Seattle. And had a speakeasy themed bar which we hope to have some lunch cocktails in. The whole experience was a lot of fun and the bar was quiet I think probably due to the fact that it was middle of the week but also because of the entrance fee to go up to see the views. Well worth a visit if you’re in Seattle. We liked the class and theme and vibe of the bar.
  • Cool spot with some great views, especially at sunset. Grab a drink at the speakeasy up top and enjoy the view. The history and decor take you back to the 1920s and let you learn a bit more about the history of Seattle. No views of the space Needle from here but you still can see Mt Rainier.
