University of Washington, Seattle

4.6
You don't have to be a student to enjoy the beautiful campus, as well as the cultural and sporting events at University of Washington. Founded in 1861, the university is one of the oldest institutions of its kind on the West Coast. Enjoy views of the Cascade Range to the east, and the Olympic Range to the west, as you walk the campus. Stop by the quad, the most photographed spot at the school, and a great place for a picnic or relaxing in the grass with a book. The quad is also lined with Yoshino cherry trees, which bloom between mid-March and early April. Explore the school's botanic gardens, visit the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, or see the latest exhibit at the Henry Art Gallery. If you're game to cheer on the Huskies at one of their many year-round sporting events, check in with the university's athletic ticket office. Put University of Washington into our Seattle sightseeing planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • We were (with felt 10,000 other people) to cherry tree blossom on the grounds of the university. This is really spectacular and definitely worth seeing. The grounds themselves are also fantastically laid out and the beautiful buildings are worth a visit on their own.

  • Would recommend walking around the UW campus even if you don't have any association with the university. I went in April when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom on the main quad.  more »

  • Love this place. April is the time to go for cherry blossoms but it will be crowded. Pro tip, park in kane hall after 12 on the weekend and it's free. It's a great way if you need to go to the campus and get lunch on the ave.
  • Great plaza full of cherry blossom and people. Actually, too many people :( The red square is also interesting.
