Explore greenhouses with environments ranging from jungle to desert when you visit Volunteer Park Conservatory. You'll tour five houses, each representing their own distinct environment. Walk through the bromeliads house to see an array of plants that attach themselves to surfaces like rocks or branches. Head to the fern house to see all types of ferns and carnivorous plants, like the Venus fly trap. Tropical plants reign at the palms house and the opposite is true at the cacti and succulent house, which promotes desert plant life. Don't miss the seasonal house, which rotates the plants it features based on the time of year. I hardly expected such a lovely collection of plant specimens as I got to see when we visited. Knowing very little about botany myself, I'm not the most equipped to really judge many aspects of it...

A beautiful conservatory built in 1921 that hasn't changed a bit. The building itself looks like architectural victorian lace and the plants inside are stunning. We had a wonderful time exploring...

An amazing little oasis! Went here with my mother, and it was so nice seeing her come alive and as gleeful as a child on snow day. The plants are beautiful, especially the cacti. Everyone there moved slowly, each eye investigating the ins and the outs of every plant. We were not rushed by anyone! It was very nice to be in an environment where it seemed everyone had something in common, some great thing of the earth, a seemingly effortless effort to preserve and to share that thing, that thread, that keepsake that is joy, tactile joy. I will carry that memory with me, as will my mother, and are a little closer to each other, and the earth, because of this conservatory. Thank you, thank you from our hearts!

Beautiful garden. Well worth the price of admission, $4 as of July 2022, especially considering free parking is abundant. Staff was extremely friendly and their passion for the work was obvious. Gift shop was very cute. Definitely will be back when in the Seattle area.
