Hike through one of Arizona's most scenic Red Rock country box canyons at Boynton Canyon Trail. This trail is well-paved, easy to access, and not too vigorous, which makes it a favorite among tourists in the Sedona area. Part of Coconino National Forest, the trail features many plants and wildlife that thrive in the harsh, rock conditions of the canyon, such as white-tailed deer. You'll start your hike near a resort but will soon be on the canyon floor. Use our Sedona day trip planning tool to add Boynton Canyon Trail and other attractions to your Sedona vacation plans.

  • We loved this hike. We took the turn off to Subway Cave. It was amazing getting to the top where the subway was. It is not for the weak and hiking shoes are a must. It is too difficult to climb...

  • Hiked the 6 miles with my kids (7&9), the best part was the subway cave (tight squeeze up those rocks!) but fun. The views are amazing and the caves across the subway cave are cool too. Terrains...

  • The full hike was at least 7 miles out and back but totally worth it! The final lookout has great views of the valley. The subway was also cool if that's your primary focus. It does get crowded trying to go up and down. I recommend doing that first early morning, for limited parking none the less.
  • My experience was paramount 3hrs of bliss, Serene Scenery, positive vibes, and a good work out to boot. A fabulous way to spend a new years day. Early arrival minimal tourist and snow on the ground trees and Canyon perimeter. Parking free for this holiday and early on plenty of spaces. One of the Best hikes on Planet 🌏. Took a 100 plus pics and they barely do this Valhalla any justice. This place is an absolute MUST!!!💯🌈🌐!
