Sedona Airport is a small non-towered airport located two miles (3 km) southwest of the central business district of Sedona, a city in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. The airport covers 220acre and has one runway and one helipad.
Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Sedona Airport is assigned SEZ by the FAA and SDX by the IATA (which assigned SEZ to Seychelles International Airport in Mahé, Seychelles).
Sedona is a very popular destination among Arizona tourists, especially with those who are interested in the New Age movement or those seeking to be close to nature. The airport is located on top of a high mesa overlooking a major portion of the city; it is not uncommon for tourists or locals driving around downtown Sedona to see an approaching airplane fly overhead and then suddenly disappear into the mountains without ever appearing to land. The airport is also located very close to the Red Rocks of Sedona. Nice place to visit day or sunset. Good hiking trails. For $3 you get a parking pass good all day — we used ours to hike and then came back at 6:00pm to wait for sunset.

Great place in Sedona for watching a sunset. It does get crowded so plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the sunset for parking.

There is a small lot at this location that can fill up quickly. It is a short, easy hike (that provides further scenic views) from the airport parking lot, further up the hill; you have to pay to park at the parking lot but it's a small amount. At the rock itself there are built-in stairs and at the top a full 360 view where you can see many other popular rock formations.

Definitely the best spot for a sunset in Sedona. Gives a great perspective of the whole Sedona area as well. Recommend getting there a little earlier than actual sunset. Arriving when the weatherman indicates sunset means you missed the setting of the sun. Parking is only $2-3 but be sure to allow time to park before the setting sun. If you can get a reservation at Mesa Grill we'll before the sunset, makes for a great evening. Spoiler alert! Mesa Grill had some great food and drinks.
