Sedona Airport is a small non-towered airport located two miles (3 km) southwest of the central business district of Sedona, a city in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. The airport covers 220acre and has one runway and one helipad.
Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Sedona Airport is assigned SEZ by the FAA and SDX by the IATA (which assigned SEZ to Seychelles International Airport in Mahé, Seychelles).
Sedona is a very popular destination among Arizona tourists, especially with those who are interested in the New Age movement or those seeking to be close to nature. The airport is located on top of a high mesa overlooking a major portion of the city; it is not uncommon for tourists or locals driving around downtown Sedona to see an approaching airplane fly overhead and then suddenly disappear into the mountains without ever appearing to land. The airport is also located very close to the Red Rocks of Sedona.

  • Nice hike before sunset! Rated 'easy' and relatively level trail. Takes about 2 hours at a casual pace, and passes the vortex area. Popular trail, so expect other hikers. As you circumnavigate the mes...  more »
  • The hike around the loop gave us incredible views of the area. Well worth the miles and it was amazing how quickly we were in splendid isolation!  more »

  • One of the best place to see the beauty of the town. You will have a beautiful view of the town with red Rock mountains in the background. Better to see sunset from there. Very large parking structure, but parking is not free. Parking fee is $3 per day. Restrooms are there. Area is pretty crowded. its very cold and windy over there, so better take a jacket.
  • Best view in Sedona - great place to watch the sunset. Expect to park a little further from the overlook; it’s good to budget time to find parking and walk to the viewing spot. In addition, be prepared for it to be crowded! We arrived, enjoyed the view for 10 mins, and left before the sun had set. This allowed us to beat the traffic going down!
